What is Mica?
Mica is a mineral that is mined from the Earth. It comes in many colors, and shapes. Mica is also referred to a Muscovite. When mined mica is in block form which is also referred to books. Clear Mica
Clear mica is used in craft scrapbooking, electrical components, heat resistant surfaces. It can be purchased in its natural form with some inclusions (markings), and also by pre cut size sheets which are a more clear form. These are known as mica windows or Mica tiles.
Spotted / Stained Mica
Stained Mica is great for using in scrapbooking, and also photo overlays where a vintage sepia tone is needed since it has natural staining throughout it. The staining can vary from light brown, to black, to rainbow hues.
Mica Color Hues
Micah color Hughes is all natural make up that has colors varying from red, to green, to brown, to silver and amber. This Mica is awesome for using with paper projects. It can be peeled apart into thinner sheets for more transparency.
Compressed Mica
Also known as lampshade mica, in this form natural mica has been bonded with resin to make it a more pliable sheet. Because it is more pliable it is a great translucent material to use in making lampshades. It can be bent as far as a cylindrical form. This mica however, is not suitable to be used as a heat surface since it contains resin.
Iced Mica
This mica is great for using in several ways for paper crafting and other purposes. This is a clear flaky sheet that is lightly bonded with clear resin, which gives it the illusion of cracked ice. This is not a heat resistant material.
