This listing is for 1/4 pound of compressed Mica sheet scraps.

Composite Mica also known as Lampshade Mica is made of natural mica slivers bound together by resin. This makes it able to be bent and manipulated when heat is applied.
This Mica is wonderful to used in making lampshades, book making. These would be ideal for collage backgrounds, or to give an aged sepia tone to a newer photograph. The possibilities are endless.

*This type of mica however is not able to be exposed to open flame as it will melt due to the resin. Therefore it is not to be used as windows for wood or coal stoves.

You will receive, amber, moss gray, and silver colored sheets. These are thick sheets that can be peeled apart using an exacto knife. The more transparent you would like just peel that amount. The scraps measures 3" X 4” on up to 5” X 7” in assortment. You will receive an assortment similar to one pictured.

*How to use this product…
Lampshade mica is easily shaped by evenly heating for less than a minute. This can be done using a clothes iron, hot plate or heat gun. When heating mica be sure to place it between sheets of parchment paper so it does not stick to the surface that you are heating it on.
Once mica sheet is softened, gently mold the mica over a cast or form. It can be easily trimmed when soft. Once cooled, the mica sheet recovers its firmness while maintaining the desired shape.
